OTROS
OTROS is the new Portuguese platform dedicated to dance. It arises in Lisbon from the need to encourage contemporary dance research and support new generations of dancers. In an accelerated world, which suffers the inability to create a bridge between the art of movement's heritage and today's socio-cultural development, OTROS intends to assume a preserving role of dance technique from the ephemeral and volatile tendency that characterises our era, disseminating the remarkable and qualitative practices that have emerged in the last decades and offering a solid and thorough training path in an accessible format to the community. OTROS proposes a dance training program with the clear intention of supporting the local dance community in Lisbon. It comes to life with a series of six different workshops scheduled between September 2025 and July 2026 and led by several internationally renowned artists representating of the contemporary dance scene. The program provides a space for rigorous exploration, artistic challenge, and personal growth. Bringing together teachers from across the globe—each with unique artistic, cultural, and research-driven approaches to contemporary dance—OTROS aims to expand the boundaries of training by offering a variety of practices, methodologies, and movement philosophies. This program is open to professional dancers, aspiring professionals, and passionate movers who wish to integrate meaningful, high-quality training into their daily lives. The first workshop, TIJEN LAWTON - MINDFUL STAMINA & CONSCIOUS RISK, is scheduled for 29 September – 3 October 2025, from 11 am to 2 pm at Casa da Dança, R. Trindade Coelho 3, 2800-297 Almada, Portugal.
