About the Open Call

The Oil Painters of America (OPA) offers various membership categories for artists and art enthusiasts dedicated to traditional, representational oil art, valid from January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026. Membership options include: Associate Membership ($80) for all oil artists, eligible for all shows including the National Show and online showcases; International Associate Membership ($80) for artists outside the US, Canada, or Mexico, offering digital resources and online showcase eligibility but not physical exhibitions; Student Membership (Free) for ages 14-23, providing access to annual student art competitions and webinars; Student Associate Membership ($40) for ages 14-23, with access to all shows and online showcases; Signature and Master Signature Memberships, conferred based on exhibition history and exceptional merit; Collectors’ Circle Membership ($80) for art lovers with exclusive event access and digital publications; and Gallery Membership ($80) for galleries representing OPA members. Applications are processed within 2-3 weeks, and payment is required upon application.

What is Offered

Membership benefits vary by tier but commonly include eligibility to jury for national and regional shows, participation in online showcases, access to Lunch & Learn webinars and online presentations, digital newsletters and catalogs, voting rights (for certain tiers), and participation in annual student art competitions.

Requirements

Applicants must be artists working in the oil medium. Student membership is for individuals aged 14 to 23. Signature and Master Signature memberships have specific exhibition history and merit requirements. All artists are encouraged to apply.
