ONE PLUS ONE

About the Open Call

The ONE + ONE program provides shared or single accommodation and studio space in central Athens for two artists who wish to share ideas and experiences, and present their work or project to an international audience. Participants can choose between: A) an individual artist presentation in SMCK Magazine's online + print publication; B) the creation and submission of a video to the SMCK On Reel video festival; C) a special event or performance at the end of their residency in Athens. The program includes a customized introduction to ancient and contemporary Greek culture (online introductory course + two guided visits at Unesco sites, museums, and art venues), individual networking advice, tips on Athens' secret addresses, and advice for project realization. The residency package includes: online introduction before arrival, 14 days/13 nights accommodation, guided city tour plus visits to Unesco sites/museums/art venues, support for presentation/publication/video, individual networking, promotion, social media support, press release, and website/online/print magazine documentation.

What is Offered

14 days/13 nights accommodation in central Athens, shared or single studio space, online introductory course on Greek culture, two guided visits to Unesco sites/museums/art venues, choice of presentation format (publication in SMCK Magazine, participation in SMCK On Reel video festival, or special event/performance), project support and advice, individual networking, promotion, social media support, press release, and online/print magazine documentation.

Requirements

Artists who work in the field of sculpture, painting, installation, photography, performance, textile art, comics, design, ceramics, jewelry art, as well as designers, crafters, art theorists, art historians, and curators are encouraged to apply. Open to individual artists and existing artist duos. Artists must be at least 30 years of age. Residency duration is 14 days (13 nights).
