Insights of an Eco Artist
An intensive 8-week online residency program designed to create an atmosphere of growth, collaboration, and connection, focusing on ecological themes and sustainable practices. The program supports a maximum of 10 participants through structured professional development and peer collaboration and culminates in a physical pop-up exhibition opportunity. This residency program transcends mere artistic development; it is dedicated to fostering a vibrant community of artists focused on sustainable practices. Through structured critique sessions, professional mentorship, and collaborative project development, participants will engage in meaningful discourse while advancing their careers in the eco-art field. Participants will undertake specific projects emphasizing environmental consciousness, alongside an educational curriculum that offers hands-on career development, including application writing and portfolio optimization. This collaborative environment creates lasting professional networks and provides participants with the tools and connections necessary to advance their practice in sustainability-focused art.
Collaborative weekly group sessions, weekly lectures on ecological art and sustainability, 2 exclusive sessions with guest curators and artists, individual mentorship for conceptual and visual language development, professional development skills (application writing, portfolio optimization, online presence), physical pop-up exhibition opportunity, virtual exhibition for digital documentation, alumni network access, and a published catalogue featuring artists (online and print, with a printed copy for each artist). Promotion includes a residency profile on the IOAEA website, a written interview, and a short introductory video for social media and newsletters.
Open to emerging and mid-career visual artists, multidisciplinary artists, curators, and art researchers globally whose work focuses on ecological practices. Selection is competitive, based on conceptual and visual narratives, and clear motivation to engage with the online residency. A project description highlighting alignment with ecological and sustainable art is required.
