About the Open Call

MicroActs is an evening of artist short film that celebrates artist filmmakers from around the globe and across genres, aiming to create an international spirit and champion empathetic creativity. They will showcase a selection of exciting and inspiring Artist Film from all over the world at a screening in September at FOMO House, just off Brick Lane in east London. Alongside the in-person screening event, a livestream platform allows the international filmmaker community to join in. Selected installation moving image pieces (up to around 20mins) will also be shown, creating an expanded cinema experience. MicroActs is a program of short films, 6 minutes or less, exploring concentrated storytelling through moving image. Works can be narrative or non-linear, experimental or scripted, abstract emotions, comedy sketches, music videos, and more. MicroActs seeks works that share unique perspectives, intersectional experiences, and tell stories. Screening events take place approximately every quarter, aiming to champion subjective and personal political moving image works, promote artist film in London, and foster a community of artists and filmmakers. All filmmakers who show are featured in the MicroActs' Filmmaker Archive on their website, an online showcase with direct links to each artist's website/digital presence, offering exposure to a new audience.
