About the Open Call

Inspired by Camila Cañeque's work and the phrase from Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot, "In the meantime nothing happens", the residency proposes pause as a creative methodology. It encourages participants to embrace open-ended research, sustained attention, and processes that may not result in immediate or finished outcomes. The programme is designed for practices that benefit from time, contemplation, and dialogue rather than access to large-scale production facilities. Alongside independent research at Mas Verd, residents will receive curatorial support from BAR project and opportunities to engage with artists, cultural practitioners, and institutions across Barcelona and Catalonia. The residency includes: Six-week residency at Mas Verd (8 October – 20 November 2026) Accommodation with workspace Food and utilities Local transportation Round-trip economy travel Insurance Curatorial mentorship and professional support Networking with local practitioners and institutions €2,000 gross residency stipend There is no additional production budget, reflecting the programme's emphasis on research and process rather than creating finished artworks.
