About the Open Call

The programme combines professional development workshops, leadership opportunities, and community-building activities designed to help participants build sustainable artistic careers. Workshops include topics such as working with galleries, grant writing, art law, art handling, art business, and insights into the art market through institutions such as Christie’s and commercial galleries. Participants also engage in professional opportunities including a group exhibition, curatorial projects, exhibition walkthroughs, panel talks, and featured publications. Community-focused events such as studio visits, peer critiques, social gatherings, and artist exchanges encourage long-term professional relationships and collaboration within the API arts community. Up to 16 artists will be selected for the 2026–27 cycle.

Requirements

Applicants must identify as Asian Pacific Islander (API), be graduating in 2026 or have graduated within the previous year (Class of 2025/26), and maintain an active fine art practice intended for professional presentation within galleries and institutions. Applicants must live in or relocate to New York City between August 2026 and April 2027, or be able to regularly commute from nearby areas including parts of New Jersey, Connecticut, or upstate New York. Required application materials include 5–10 images of recent artworks, a CV, artist statement, and a short written questionnaire explaining interest in the programme and career goals. Optional materials include a website and Instagram profile. Applications are reviewed based on artistic merit, professionalism, and the programme’s potential impact on the applicant’s career trajectory.
