Narva Art Residency
The Narva Art Residency is seeking applications for a Finno-Ugric creative residency to take place from October 16 to December 8, 2025. This residency is part of Narva's designation as the Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture for 2025, which aims to preserve and promote Finno-Ugric cultures. The residency emphasizes art as a tool for dialogue and cultural identity, particularly for smaller peoples whose identities are at risk. Artists are expected to create a unique contemporary art project that introduces Finno-Ugric culture in an engaging form, involve the local community, and present their work publicly. The residency provides free accommodation and workspace, project implementation support, and community communication assistance.
The resident will receive free accommodation and workspace at the Narva Art Residency, support in implementing the project and communicating with the local community. The selected applicant will receive an 800€ creative scholarship, 700€ for production costs, and 200€ to cover travel expenses.
Artists are expected to create a unique contemporary art project that introduces Finno-Ugric culture in a new and engaging form; demonstrate a willingness to involve the local community and introduce and present their work at a public event; and ensure participation in the residency during the specified period from October 16 to December 8, 2025. The work should be inspired by Finno-Ugric cultures.
