Atheras
Taking place in Nicosia, Cyprus from 23 October to 22 November 2026, the residency creates an experimental environment where participants develop new ensemble-based works through collaboration, rehearsal, improvisation, and research. The programme focuses on how imagination, precision, experimentation, and ludic thinking can reshape contemporary music composition and performance. Residents will work closely with professional ensemble musicians and receive mentorship from composer and conductor Andys Skordis, alongside artistic guidance from the Atheras team. The residency culminates in performances connected to the Toyful Music Festival 2026.
Applicants must: Be individual artists (duets or collectives are not accepted) Be based in a Creative Europe country Demonstrate strong interest in experimental and ensemble-based contemporary music practices Be composers or performer-researchers working in contemporary music Artists at different career stages are welcome to apply. Application Requirements Applicants are generally required to: Complete the online application form Submit examples of previous work and artistic practice Demonstrate interest in experimental composition and collaborative processes Present a proposal or artistic approach aligned with the residency’s themes Selected residents will receive: Travel support Accommodation in central Nicosia Daily allowance Access to rehearsal and production spaces Continuous collaboration with professional ensemble musicians Video and audio documentation of final performances
