Open Call for Situated Research Residencies 2027

About the Open Call

Medialab Matadero presents the fifth edition of its annual Situated Research Residency program. We are looking for proposals that sit at the margins or intersections of disciplines, methodologies, and knowledges, focusing on prototyping, documentation, and sharing knowledge. Projects must connect with themes like sentient media, metabolic sublime, synthetic minds, strange futures, and the mechanics of truth. The residency is in-person and requires active participation in the Medialab community.

What is Offered

Each of the 3 selected projects will receive a stipend of €10,000 (before tax), access to material infrastructure including the Fablab, an individual workspace, and support from the curatorial and technical teams.

Requirements

Applicants must be individuals or collectives from fields such as design, art, architecture, urbanism, science, social studies, and others. The residency requires an in-person presence in Madrid, particularly between March and June 2027.
