Asian Art Contemporary
Asian Art Contemporary is pleased to announce an open call for submissions to the upcoming virtual exhibition, Situated Stories. This exhibition examines how narratives emerge through context, storytelling, and the application of medium in artistic practice. Contemporary Asian artists worldwide are invited to submit works that engage with this theme—whether through personal histories, cultural memory, or experimental approaches to narrative. Artist Carol Paik and curator Phil Zheng Cai have been invited as jurors for this open call. They will select works that best embody the curatorial vision of the exhibition and its commitment to presenting diverse voices in contemporary Asian art. Situated Stories will foreground the multiplicity of ways in which artists situate their narratives, revealing how meaning unfolds through context, medium, and audience. This exhibition is curated solely to promote the work and practice of the selected artists. Asian Art Contemporary does not proceed with sales or handle sales inquiries related to the artwork on display.
Selected artists will have their work showcased in a curated virtual exhibition. All selected artists will be provided with free artist interviews to share their creative processes and stories. First, second, and third place winners will receive official digital certificates recognizing their achievements. All selected artists will be promoted on our Instagram account.
Open to Asian artists working worldwide. Artists at any stage of their careers are encouraged to apply. Submissions in both traditional and digital mediums (painting, sculpture, photography, video, mixed media, etc.) are welcome. Artwork must be original. Artists are responsible for copyright compliance. Submissions are limited to up to 3 images and/or 1 video. A brief bio/artist statement, CV (if applicable), portfolio website (if applicable), and social media handles (if applicable) are required. Submitted JPEG files should not exceed 1MB, and selected artists will be contacted for high-resolution images. For video submissions, time-based or kinetic artwork can be presented in videos limited to 2 minutes. For security reasons, sites with passwords or downloaded attachments from the web cannot be accessed. Only 1 entry per artist will be considered.
Pay your submission fees and fill out the Google form provided via the "SUBMIT NOW" link. Incomplete submissions, failure to pay the submission fee, or submissions that don’t follow the guidelines will result in disqualification. We do not accept submissions via email.
