Open Interval is an exploratory initiative offering $30,000 in funding and unprescribed time for participants to engage in unbound collaboration at the intersection of art and science. The program runs from April to December 2027 and includes a mandatory collaboration meeting from May 23 to 26, 2027.
Each participating trio will be awarded a $30,000 grant and access to program-specific events.
Applicants must apply as a trio consisting of one artist, one scientist (must hold a Ph.D.), and one representative from an arts organization. All applicants must be based in the U.S. and living in the U.S. for the duration of the program.
The curator or producer from the participating arts organization must initiate the application by completing the form found at https://simons.fillout.com/t/6Yyma9fSHius. Unique URLs will then be sent to the participating artist and scientist to complete their respective portions.
