Center for Military-Affiliated Students at The New School
The Parsons Prize for Military-Affiliated Artists is an award recognizing outstanding work by artists with military affiliations, founded by the Center for Military-Affiliated Students and Parsons School of Design. The prize honors the depth, rigor, and vision that military-affiliated artists bring to contemporary art practices. This initiative reaffirms The New School’s commitment to the military-affiliated population, building on a history from the post-WWII era when The New School was a hub for veterans. Eligibility extends to U.S. military veterans, active or reserve service members, and their children, spouses, and siblings. Accepted mediums include painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, printmaking, photography, video, textiles, sound, installation, and performance.
Cash prizes: $3,000 for 1st place, $1,000 for 2nd place, and $1,000 for 3rd place, juried by arts professionals.
Eligibility is open to U.S. military veterans; U.S. service members (active or reserves); and children, spouses, and siblings of U.S. service members or veterans. There are no age or geographic restrictions.
Submissions are accepted through an online form requiring personal details (Name, Email, Phone, Website, Instagram), military affiliation status, an Artist Bio (max. 250 words), and an Artist Statement (max. 500 words).
