About the Open Call

The Performing Arts Advanced Course 2026 is conceived as a 'place' for change, multiple encounters, and experimentation, fostering relationships of sharing and co-evolution. This guided growth process contributes to the discovery and revelation of artistic identities. The 6-month course, from January to July 2026, is divided between CAPa’s venue (Performing Arts Centre of Algarve, Faro) and other spaces in Algarve (Portugal) and Andalusia (Spain). It features a modular and compact format with 660 hours of practical and theoretical classes, from which participants will develop various works. The program includes 380 hours of practical and theoretical training and 280 hours of individual/collective exploration accompanied by the DeVIR team. It will host 16 participants, with meetings led by renowned national and international professionals, covering creative processes and methods through multidirectional approaches. The training also promotes collaborative work, individual and collective, encouraging participants to explore the unknown. Complementary activities include knowledge of mediation and programming practices, and a program of performances by invited artists.

What is Offered

The opportunity offers advanced theoretical and practical training, artistic residencies, and public performance opportunities. Participants may be selected for a professional internship within a project company, which is described as 'experience in a paid work context'. Scholarships covering up to 70% of the course fee are available, as well as grants to support accommodation at CAPa Residential Area.

Requirements

The course has a strong practical component, centered on thought and construction, aimed at individuals with training and/or experience in the areas of dance and theater. Applicants must be curious and open-minded, willing to take risks, and accept critical observation. Participation is subject to audition.

The application period is open continuously from 14th April to 10th November 2025, comprising two application phases with pre-selection and online audition stages.
