IOTPD
The IOTPD (International Organization for the Transition of Professional Dancers) is an international network dedicated to supporting professional dancers as they transition from their performance careers to new professions. As a tribute to its founder, the IOTPD has established the annual Philippe Braunschweig Grant for retraining. This grant addresses the unique challenges faced by professional dancers with international careers, who, due to their scattered work history, may not meet the eligibility criteria for retraining support in any single country where they have worked. The grant aims to provide financial assistance to these dancers for their professional transition.
Up to €5000 will be available each year for retraining, awarded in whole or in part depending on the need.
Applicants must meet the following criteria: - Must not qualify for transition/retraining support from any one of the countries where they have danced. - Must have performed as a dancer within the 3 years period preceding the IOTPD Philippe Braunschweig Grant deadline for which they are applying. - Must have been a professional dancer for a minimum of 8 years. - Must have performed professionally a minimum of 36 months during the 8-year minimum time period. - Must have danced in at least one of the IOTPD member countries: Canada, France, Germany, Korea, Switzerland, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, USA, Spain, Poland, Czech Republic.
To apply for the IOTPD Philippe Braunschweig Grant, applicants must first meet the eligibility criteria. Before submitting, applicants must contact the transition center in their country of residence (if an IOTPD member country) to obtain a certificate confirming their ineligibility for local support. The application is completed online via a form, with required documents attached. These documents include a motivation letter (detailing career path, new career choice, research, skills, and financial situation), a Performance Curriculum Vitae with contract dates and countries of employment, two letters of support from professionals, a copy of course descriptions for the new training, an invoice or information about training costs, a forecast budget, and optionally, a letter of acceptance or enrollment confirmation from the training institution. For subsequent years of a retraining program, transcripts from previous years must be uploaded. All applications must be received by April 30th of every year. Questions regarding the application can be directed to an IOTPD member country. While the application is in English, assistance can be sought from transition centers if there are language difficulties.
