About the Open Call

This juried art exhibition, titled 'Plein air', is organized by UPWARD gallery and open to all artists aged 18 and older. Submissions are encouraged across a wide range of media including all traditional art media (oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, mixed media, gouache, egg tempera, pen and ink; drawing media such as graphite, charcoal, colored pencils, scratch board, markers, metal point), digital painting, and various arts and crafts (beadwork, pottery, embroidery, floristry, batik, stained glass, two-dimensional collage and fabric art). Artwork generated by AI, as well as profanity or political artwork, is strictly prohibited. Each participant in the exhibition will receive a personal page on the UPWARD gallery website, which will feature their submitted works, a short biography and artist statement, links to their personal website, and social media accounts. Selected winners will also have the opportunity for an interview with UPWARD Gallery editors for publication in UPWARD’s Quarterly and on the website.

What is Offered

Each participant receives a personal page on the UPWARD gallery website displaying their works, biography, artist statement, and links to their website and social media. Winners will be interviewed by UPWARD Gallery editors for publication in UPWARD’s Quarterly and on the website. All entrants will receive digital certificates (participation, 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, Merit Awards, Honorable Mention Awards, and Finalist). Selected works will be presented in the quarterly printed edition and curated galleries on the site. Authors of selected works will receive Social Media Promotion.

Requirements

All artists 18 and older are encouraged to submit their work. Acceptable mediums include traditional art media, digital painting, and arts and crafts. No AI, profanity, or political artwork is permitted.
