About the Open Call

This esteemed portrait art contest centers around the captivating theme of PORTRAIT. Artists are invited to explore the endless expressions and emotions conveyed through the human face, pushing the boundaries of artistic representation. This inclusive competition extends beyond human subjects, welcoming artists to depict the faces of animals as well. Whether artists choose a representational or abstract approach, they are encouraged to unleash their creativity across various mediums of portrait artwork, including Painting & Mixed Media, Photography & Digital, and Sculpture & 3D Installation. The competition aims to provide an international platform for painters and art aficionados, allowing artists to gain admiration from a global audience and become established.

What is Offered

Up to $3,500 in cash prizes will be given out to winning artists, including First Prize Award ($300-$500), Runner-Up Prize Award ($150-$350), Merit Prize Award ($75-$250), Talent Prize Award ($25-$150), Honorable Mention Award, and Finalist Award. Winners will also receive professionally designed Certificates of Recognition, global exposure, and a featured showcase on TERAVARNA’s platform. Winning artworks will be exhibited from January 7, 2026, to January 29, 2026.

Requirements

The minimum age requirement for participation is 18 years. All types of visual arts will be considered. Submissions must be JPEG or JPG files, preferably less than 2MB, with a maximum of 5MB. Images should be cleanly cropped, showing only the artwork, without borders, frames, backgrounds, or unnecessary elements, and must be in sharp focus from a front-facing view. AI-generated artworks are not accepted.

How to Apply

STEP 1: Choose the number of artworks you'd like to submit from one of the options. STEP 2: Click on the number of artworks and proceed to make a payment via PayPal or credit card.
