About the Open Call

The exhibition investigates questions surrounding animality, perception, and ecological futures in an era shaped by digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and environmental change. Rather than focusing on traditional depictions of animals, Post – Animal Signal encourages artists to explore themes such as machine ecology, AI-generated creatures, mythological beings, urban wildlife, virtual life, sonic environments, and ecological collapse. A distinctive aspect of the exhibition is its emphasis on sound as an equal creative component alongside the moving image. Works that engage with listening, non-human communication, acoustic ecologies, and experimental audiovisual storytelling are particularly encouraged.

Requirements

Applicants should submit works that align with the exhibition's theme and meet the following criteria: Experimental film, fixed media, animation, audiovisual work, sound art, pure sound work, hybrid media, CGI/AI-generated video, video essay, or expanded cinema documentation Duration between 3–20 minutes (longer works may be considered) Submission must include: Artist statement Work description Screening link Contact information Accepted video formats: .mp4 and .mov Accepted audio formats: .wav and .aiff Applications should be submitted via email to molendart@gmail.com Selected artists will receive: Exhibition in an immersive audiovisual space in Glasgow International exposure Artist interview opportunity Publication on Molend Art Inclusion in the official exhibition archive and critical exhibition report
