R Online Readings + Lab open call

About the Open Call

R Online Readings + Lab is a script development program supported by Arts Council England. The project selects five playwrights to have their new works-in-progress or polished scripts read in full via Zoom by professional actors. The sessions include literary feedback from a resident dramaturg and industry discussions. One selected playwright will receive a two-day in-person research and development (R&D) session in London, culminating in a live scratch night performance for an audience and industry guests.

What is Offered

Pre-reading meeting, full script reading by professional actors, literary feedback from resident dramaturg Melissa Sylverson, recording of the reading session, and potential for a 2-day in-person R&D and performance.

Requirements

Open to new plays destined for the stage (short or full length). Selection is based on the development stage of the play, social relevance of themes, and diversity/inclusion criteria.

How to Apply

Playwrights must first fill out an Equality and Diversity Monitoring Form and then submit their application via a Google Form or by video submission.
