Residency open call for artists based in East Africa

About the Open Call

This residency open call is for an artist based in East Africa (Chagos Archipelago, Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, French Southern Territories, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mayotte, Mozambique, Réunion, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, South Sudan, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia), who has already presented their work in several venues. The eleven-week, fully funded residency will take place at Gasworks in London from 7 April – 22 June 2027. The programme supports professional development, cultural exchange, and artistic experimentation. It is self-led, non-prescriptive and process-based.

What is Offered

Fully funded eleven-week residency including administrative, pastoral, and curatorial support.

Requirements

Applicants must be based in East Africa (specific countries listed) and have already presented their work in several venues. Applicants are expected to be self-motivated.
