About the Open Call

Gasworks residencies are process-based and non-prescriptive, encouraging artists to use London as a site for research, dialogue, and the development of new work. Residents receive a private studio, accommodation, travel support, visa assistance, weekly stipend, production budget, curatorial guidance, and networking opportunities with artists, curators, and arts professionals. The residency culminates in an Open Studio presentation where artists share research and work developed during their stay. Gasworks places strong emphasis on experimentation, international exchange, and long-term artistic relationships, prioritising artists who have not previously had substantial opportunities in London.

What is Offered

Fully funded 11-week residency, administrative, pastoral, and curatorial support.

Requirements

The open call is intended for contemporary visual artists based in the Caribbean region. Applicants are generally expected to demonstrate an active artistic practice, professional commitment, and a clear research interest for the residency period. Applications typically require an artist statement, residency proposal, CV, and portfolio materials submitted as a single PDF. Artists should have sufficient spoken English to discuss their work and participate in the residency programme. Gasworks residencies are designed for individual artists rather than collectives or organisations.

How to Apply

Submit the application form via the Gasworks website. Applicants are advised to review the Application Guidelines and Residency FAQ available on the website prior to submission.
