About the Open Call

Fountain Arts is excited to announce a new professional development opportunity for 4 selected artists. This unique six-month intensive program (November – May 2026) offers fully funded studio space, professional 1:1 tailored mentoring, group development sessions with experienced artists and arts professionals, and introductions to regional arts organizations, producers, curators, and galleries, including funded visits to three towns and cities. The opportunity also fosters collaboration with fellow Studio School artists and culminates in a group exhibition at Fountain Arts (April - May 2026). It's designed to help artists focus on their practice, gain confidence in their creative career, and connect with a supportive community of peers and professionals.

What is Offered

Fully funded (FREE) studio space for 6 months, professional 1:1 tailored mentoring, group development sessions (workshops, discussions, skill-sharing), introductions to arts organisations, producers, curators and galleries in the region with funded visits, collaboration with fellow Studio School artists, and a group exhibition.

Requirements

The opportunity is for artists at an early stage of their career or artists returning to practice after a break. Applicants must be creatives throughout the United Kingdom and commit to being based in Scunthorpe and North Lincolnshire at least 2 days a week, with Wednesdays designated as a support day (10:00 - 16:00).

Applicants must provide: 1. A short statement (max 250 words) about why they'd like to join the Scunthorpe Studio School. 2. A short statement (max 250 words) about their creative practice. 3. Up to 5 images of previous work. 4. A short CV or summary of relevant experience. All submissions are made using the online form.
