About the Open Call

First Street Gallery announces its “SELECTS 2026” juried exhibition opportunity. We invite artists to exhibit a small body of work that explores a current or long-standing artistic interest. The show opens on January 8, 2026 and runs through January 30, 2026 at 547 West 27th Street, Suite 514 in New York City. SELECTS 2026 will highlight a select group of artists, who will each have an exhibition area of approximately 10’H x 10’W of wall space (not necessarily contiguous) or equivalent floor space for 3D work. The exhibition is juried by Jill Sarver Rossi, Senior Curator at Cynthia Byrnes Contemporary Art and Executive Director of Rome Art Program. The gallery takes no commission on any work sold.

Exhibition opportunity in a New York City gallery, exhibition space (approx. 10'H x 10'W wall space or equivalent floor space), and no commission taken on any work sold.

Requirements

Open to U.S. resident artists, 18 years and older. Artists currently represented by First Street Gallery and exhibitors in the Gallery’s “SELECTS 2024” or “SELECTS 2025” exhibition are not eligible. Eligible works include original oils, acrylics, watercolors, gouache, pastels, drawings, prints, mixed media, photography, and sculpture in any material. 2D work must be wired and ready for hanging (Maximum weight 30 lbs). D-rings should be used for heavy works. 2D works on paper do not have to be framed but must have proper hanging hardware. Sculptors are urged to provide their own pedestals (Maximum weight 30 lbs for floor or pedestal sculpture). Accepted work may be refused if it does not conform to the entered image. All work must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition. Artists are responsible for insuring their own pieces; First Street Gallery will not be responsible for any loss or damage to work while on the premises or in transit.

How to Apply

Entries must be submitted electronically. Judging will be done entirely from JPEGs. JPEGs must be 72 dpi, and at least 600 pixels but not greater than 1200 pixels in any direction. Maximum file size for any individual image is 5MB. The Entry form must be filled out completely, submitting five works. Image labeling for 2D work: LAST NAME_FIRST NAME_Work #. Sculptors MUST submit TWO VIEWS of each work, labeled LAST NAME_FIRST NAME_Work #a/b. Work information required includes Type of Work, Artwork Title, Medium, Size (framed, HxW for 2D; HxWxD+weight for 3D), and Price. Optional: provide a brief paragraph about the body of work, a website link, and Instagram handle.
