Justice & Peace Netherlands
Shelter City is a global movement providing temporary safe and inspiring spaces for human rights defenders at risk where they can re-energize, receive tailormade support, and engage with allies. The program is open to a broad range of activists, journalists, media professionals, scholars, writers, and artists working for human rights. From March 2027, 14 cities in the Netherlands will host participants for three months. A separate fellowship with the Asser Institute is also available for September 2027.

Must use non-violent approaches; be under threat or pressure due to work; willing/able to return to home country; conversational English proficiency; valid passport; not subject to travel prohibitions.
