About the Open Call

Tokyo Biennale 2027 seeks proposals for art projects or artist-in-residence plans across 11 designated Tokyo sites. Projects must go beyond standard exhibitions to involve research, engagement with local residents, and site-responsive collaboration. The theme 'From Me to Us' encourages re-examining social connections through art, emphasizing dialogue and coexistence in an age of division.

What is Offered

Round-trip travel expenses up to 300,000 JPY, accommodation in Tokyo, project development budget up to 200,000 JPY, honorarium of 100,000 JPY, venue coordination, and interpretation/translation support.

Requirements

Open to artists, curators, researchers, and collectives worldwide. Must be 18+. Projects must be original, demonstrate social relevance and feasibility, and comply with ethical/safety standards.
