AFIELD
AFIELD is an international network of cultural changemakers. Anchored in the fundamental belief that artists are essential to the fabric of society, as thinkers, visionaries and changemakers, AFIELD is a platform, centered around its network and fellowship program, that offers a solidarity community and resources to reinforce the capacity for artists to lead transformational change in their communities and society as a whole. In addition to providing fellowships and grants AFIELD provides resources in the form of discussions, mutual aid, incubation and convenings. Its members, located in over 50 countries, include filmmakers, choreographers, photographers, actors, writers, curators, journalists and visual artists. The Strategic Communications Manager will be a key member of AFIELD’s small and dynamic team, helping to shape and share our story and impact, and contribute to the organisation’s evolution as we enter our second decade. This full-time position, starting January 2026 (or sooner), requires someone both visionary and hands on: from crafting big-picture strategy and narrative to writing and sending newsletters, managing social media, and supporting grant applications. The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer and storyteller, able to translate complex work into compelling content for a range of audiences—funders, cultural leaders, media, and the wider public. This is a unique opportunity to shape how the world understands AFIELD and its international network of changemakers, extending our impact and advocacy. Key Responsibilities : - Content & Storytelling : Articulate AFIELD’s mission and highlight the work and impact of its Fellows. Research, interview, and produce content for website, newsletters, and social media. Work with photographers/videographers; collaborate on video production. - Grant Writing & Reporting : Work with the Director to shape content strategy for Funding applications. Lead writing for funding applications, reports, and reviews. Integrate data and stories to convey impact. - Digital Communications : Develop AFIELD’s tone and voice across platforms. Manage and produce content for social media, newsletters, and website. Maintain contact and press databases. Learning & Knowledge Sharing Articulate AFIELD’s fellowship and network processes (used in publications and reporting). Document practices and processes in order to share knowledge between initiatives. - Media & Press Outreach : Build relationships with journalists in art, social change, and philanthropy. Oversee media campaigns for major programs (e.g. AFIELD Forum, Annual Fellowship). Liaise with press agencies to expand coverage. - Design & Brand : Safeguard and evolve AFIELD’s visual identity. Work with external designers on campaigns and projects.
Rémunération envisagée: 45000-50000€
Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with an ability to adapt tone and style for different platforms and audiences in English (additional languages a plus). A strong understanding of social media platforms and audience engagement and growth. Passion for storytelling, cultural work, and social justice. Highly organized, resourceful, self-directed, and comfortable working independently in a small team. Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines. While we accept candidates internationally, there is a preference for candidates located in Paris or in a near time-zone. Additional competencies Existing network of media contacts, designers, photographers or other creative collaborators. Experience in a fundraising and development, and grant writing role and drafting professional reports for funders, foundations, or boards. Experience working in a global or decentralized organization. Background in art, humanities, or social sciences. Familiarity with communications analytics and reporting tools. Familiarity with project management, community relationship management, and content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Mailchimp, etc.). Familiarity with graphic design, photography and video editing tools. 5-7 years experience in communications, journalism, media, storytelling or public relations, or a related field, preferably within social entrepreneurship, non-profit or contemporary art and cultural sectors.
