Contemporary British Painting
An open call for the best of painting produced in the UK today. The prize aims to promote current painting practices. Shortlisted artists will participate in two exhibitions: one at YAS Sheffield and one at Thames-Side Studios Gallery, London. The prize includes the Judith Tucker Memorial Prize for women artists and the YAS Exhibition Award.
First Prize £8000; Highly Commended Award £2000; £400 exhibitor's fee for shortlisted artists; two exhibitions; inclusion in two catalogues; Judith Tucker Memorial Prize (£1500 and £3000); YAS Exhibition Award (curated solo show, artist fee, and production support).
Open to all artists over 18 living and professionally based in the UK. Work must be a painting, completed within the last 3 years (since June 1, 2023), and not exceed 2.2m on its longest side. Members of Contemporary British Painting and families of selectors/judges are ineligible.
Applications are submitted through the CuratorSpace platform. Artists must register for a free CuratorSpace account, submit contact details, an artist statement, and five images of different paintings completed since June 1st, 2023.
