About the Open Call

The Theodor Körner Fonds supports the next generation of researchers and artists. Grants are awarded for 'work in progress' projects that have already begun but will not be completed before the end of the application year. Categories include Fine Arts, Art Photography, Composition, and Literature, as well as several scientific disciplines. Projects must be independently conceived, conducted by individuals, and feasible within two years. Evaluation criteria include excellence, originality, and social relevance, with a preference for projects involving Austrian contexts or addressing climate change.

What is Offered

A prize of €5,000 per awardee, paid in two installments (€3,000 upon award, €2,000 upon documented completion).

Requirements

Applicants must be individuals (no groups). For academics, the highest degree must have been obtained within the last six years. The project must be 'work in progress' and completed between January 1, 2027, and October 31, 2028. Projects must have a connection to Austria (conducted in Austria, have Austrian content, or be submitted by Austrians living abroad).
