About the Open Call

Transformed is a thought-provoking art exhibition exploring the beauty and potential of repurposed materials, highlighting artists who transform discarded and forgotten objects into new life. Through sculptural works, installations, and mixed media pieces, the exhibition invites reconsideration of everyday objects as sources of inspiration and artistic expression. From industrial scraps to household items, each artwork testifies that art can emerge from reimagining what already exists. The exhibition challenges perspectives on sustainability, consumption, and waste, reflecting a commitment to the belief that discarded objects can tell new, rich stories, offering insight into our connections with the objects we use. It celebrates resourcefulness, creativity, and renewal in a throwaway culture. All original 2D or 3D work following entry guidelines will be considered. Works selected by the juror will be exhibited in MFA’s Circle Gallery from October 31 – November 22, 2025. The juror is Jaynie Crimmins, a New York City based artist known for creating alternative narratives by recycling quotidian materials. Awards designated by the juror total $1,000. The exhibition schedule includes an entry deadline of September 3, 2025, notifications on October 2, 2025, work arrival between October 21-25, 2025, exhibition opening on October 31, 2025, a virtual awards ceremony on November 2, 2025, and a closing reception on November 22, 2025. Artists are responsible for proper delivery and pickup of work, adhering to specific size and condition requirements. Artists retain 70% (75% for MFA members) from sales, with MFA retaining a 30% commission (25% for members).
