About the Open Call

Transformed is an art exhibition presented by the Maryland Federation of Art, inviting artists to explore the beauty and potential of repurposed materials. The exhibition challenges perceptions of discarded objects, transforming them into sculptural works, installations, and mixed media pieces that tell new narratives. It promotes themes of sustainability, consumption, and waste, highlighting creativity's power to shift the cultural and emotional significance of everyday items. All original 2D or 3D work following entry guidelines will be considered for exhibition. Juried by Jaynie Crimmins, a New York City-based artist known for recycling quotidian materials, the exhibition will feature works in MFA’s Circle Gallery from October 31 – November 22, 2025, with a virtual awards ceremony on November 2, 2025.

Requirements

All original 2D or 3D work following entry guidelines will be considered. Works selected by the juror will be exhibited. Work must arrive on scheduled dates. Paintings must be dry. Measure to ensure work meets size limitations before delivery, including outer edges of frames. Work not in compliance with the exhibition guidelines and MFA’s General Guidelines will not be exhibited. Work delivered must correspond with the images submitted to the juror. All shipped work must include a bar-coded shipping label. Do not send by United States Postal Service (USPS); UPS or FedEx are preferred. No shipping peanuts allowed. Affix packing/repacking instructions to the OUTSIDE of the shipping box.

How to Apply

Artists are invited to submit their original 2D or 3D works online. The entry period opens on June 17 and closes on September 3, 2025, at 11:59 PM. A detailed prospectus with full entry guidelines and shipping instructions is available for download. Accepted works must arrive at MFA Circle Gallery between October 21-25, 2025, either by hand-delivery or shipment, ensuring compliance with all specified guidelines regarding artwork preparation, labeling, and shipping carriers (UPS or FedEx preferred, no USPS). Notification of acceptance will be made via email on October 2, 2025.
