About the Open Call

Ubah Rumah is an artist studio on Nikoi Island, Bintan, Indonesia. Derived from the Malay language, Ubah Rumah envisions itself as a 'Home of Change,' inspired by the nomadic culture of the Orang Laut of the Riau islands. At the heart of the project is the Living Studio, activated by each resident through bespoke experiences created for island guests. The residency hosts artists from Southeast Asia whose practices engage with the intersection of art, ecology, and hospitality. Accommodation and round trip travel within Southeast Asia are provided.
