About the Open Call

At Vancouver Fringe, we foster a vibrant community of independent and emerging performing artists. We break traditional barriers and create a welcoming space for artists and audiences alike. Through our lottery, we create an environment where any artist can take to the stage. Mainstage lottery winners receive a performance slot in an associated theatre with full access to standard equipment and a seating capacity of 90-230 seats. The festival runs for 11 days, and artists typically perform six times.

What is Offered

Artists receive 100% of the box office proceeds minus a $5 ticketing fee. Selected Mainstage artists receive six performance slots and technical support.

Requirements

Artists must be available from September 8 to 20, 2026. For the Two-Phase lottery (IBPOC Phase), the Primary Contact must identify as Indigenous, Black, and/or a Person of Colour, and at least 50% of the creative/performance team must also self-identify as IBPOC. Successfully drawn companies must pay participation fees ranging from $400 to $850 depending on show length and category.

How to Apply

Applicants must apply online via the Eventotron platform and pay a non-refundable $45 application fee. Mainstage lottery entries close on January 13, 2026.
