About the Open Call

Kala Veterans Artist Residency Program provides artist residencies to local, regional, and national veteran artists. The program supports veterans working in printmaking, film and video, digital media, sculpture, textile, ceramics, fiber arts, installation, social practice, photography, and book arts. The residency provides 1-4 months of studio access, a cash stipend, and opportunities for professional development through classes and community networking.

What is Offered

1-4 months of studio residency with 24/7 access, $1,000 cash stipend, 1 month of housing for artists outside the Bay Area, individual or shared project space, one funded Kala class or workshop, and community networking with approximately 75 artists.

Requirements

The program is specifically for veterans working in the arts across various media including printmaking, digital media, sculpture, and photography. It is open to local, regional, and national artists within the United States.

Applications must be submitted via SlideRoom (kala.slideroom.com). Requirements include completing application questions, uploading an artist CV, and providing up to 10 images or 5 minutes of video work samples.
