Video Archaeology Lab (VAL)
The DEAD MEDIA Residency is a work and educational opportunity for artists seeking to incorporate analog video media, visual effects, and electronic techniques into digital media and video/film projects. Located in Buffalo, NY, Video Archaeology is a video art studio that collects and reuses obsolete analog technology for creative projects and research. Residents utilize a Multi-Channel AV system, modular synthesizers, and mixers to create immersive media experiences. The residency includes guided tutorials and hands-on experience with analog electronics.
$1200 stipend, possible housing and travel stipend for non-local artists, 24-hour studio access, and guided tutorials on analog equipment.
Applicants can be media artists, photographers, filmmakers, VJs, or performers. Selected residents must publicly exhibit work produced (screening, performance, installation, or talk) and lead a 2-hour workshop about a technique of their choice.
