About the Open Call

Visual Arts residencies at Banff Centre are structured programs of faculty-led activity and mentorship, supporting project-based studio practice. This program invites artists to research, imagine and create possible selves and worlds. The residency includes individual studios, access to shared production facilities, faculty visits, and seminars.

What is Offered

Includes studio space, shared production facilities, faculty mentorship, workshops, library access, and recreation facilities. Scholarships covering partial or full costs are available.

Requirements

Individual artists or duos (max 2) with post-secondary training in visual arts or equivalent experience/recognition. Must be 18+. Artists not having attended in the last three years given priority.

How to Apply

Applicants must complete an online form via the Banff Centre website, pay an application fee, and submit supporting materials including a resume, artist statement, project proposal, resource requests, and a portfolio via SlideRoom.
