Woman Scream
For the past fifteen years, the cultural international Woman Scream cause, in collaboration with the Women Poets International Movement (MPI), has created books, anthologies, and collective compilations rooted in solidarity to women and girls rights around the world. This time, the call is open for participation in one printed volume, which will include the categories of short story, visual arts, and poetry. This special edition welcomes women and men over the age of 18, from any part of the world, who wish to contribute their voice or their art with sensitivity and respect, based on the themes described below. Participation is free, as a way to give creative visibility to the urgent issues affecting so many women and girls today. Each person may submit to one, two, or all three categories, but only one work per category will be accepted. The selection process will be careful and thorough. We will choose submissions that genuinely reflect the values and purpose of Woman Scream. We wish you the best of luck, and we thank you for your support. Poetry Category: We are looking for poems related to migrant women and girls: their journey, struggles, resilience, contributions, and challenges in new frontiers. Poems should deeply and humanely explore the multiple realities migrant women face: displacement, loss, uprooting, struggle, hope, and/or rebirth. Short Story Category: For our first short story compilation, we are looking for brief narratives with a feminist perspective that highlight the various forms of violence faced by women and girls around the world, including abuse, discrimination, imposed silence, as well as their resistance, strength, and/or healing processes. We value submissions that, with empathy and respect, both denounce injustice and uplift. We prefer hopeful narratives, but all well-written proposals are welcome. Visual Art Categories: Painting, illustration, digital art, and drawing. The images should depict female figures or scenes that evoke the strength, dignity, identity, or resilience of women and girls in any context, or represent the themes of this call. The cover of the book may be selected from the submitted artworks. All selected artworks will be featured on the book, along with the artist’s photo, short bio, and social media links. The selected works will be published in a commemorative book. This volume will be available for print-on-demand purchase via Amazon.com. Participation is free and open to all, with no obligation to purchase a copy unless the participant wishes to do so. All contributions will help impulse and promote the cause’s projects. The WS project does not offer additional compensation beyond the promotion of the submitted work through all means at its disposal. Creators retain all rights to their work after publication.
