The Kerouac Project
The Kerouac Project provides multiple residencies a year to writers of any stripe or age, living anywhere in the world. Residents stay in the house where Jack Kerouac wrote his novel 'Dharma Bums'. The program aims to foster writing culture within the community through workshops and readings. Residents are expected to dedicate their time to their writing project while participating in community-focused events.
Approximately 4 to 7 weeks of residency, utilities included, and a food/grocery stipend ($300 for 4 weeks or $600 for 7 weeks).
Submission of a writing sample in Poetry, Play, Screenplay, Fiction, or Nonfiction; a cover letter; and a one-page résumé. Residents must live in the Kerouac House, host 1-2 workshops (at least one online), and perform a final reading of new work.
Apply online via the Submittable link provided on the Kerouac Project website. Applicants must submit a writing sample, a cover letter, and a one-page résumé.
